  • This framed magazine from Communist Bulgaria - Bulletin - is the perfect example of the efforts journalists had to put in to paint a picture of the wonderful life of Bulgarian working class during the Communist regime from the 1940s  to the 1980s. No matter the intentions of the party back then, such a relic has an exceptional historical value, especially when there is the portrait of the great revolutionary Hristo Botev on the cover (spelled 'Christo Boteff' in the magazine). 

    Bulletin was one of the first propaganda magazines of Communist Bulgaria. All of the like-minded issues had one purpose: show the world that the country at the time was in its Golden Age in comparison to the way things were during the Third Bulgarian Kingdom (pre-1944). Editors would go to great lengths in their depictions, even using photos from other countries. 

    Memorabilia from Bulgaria's Communist past are very sought-after, because we all have a taste for irony when it comes to propaganda.
