Barabar Board Game - version in Bulgarian

Price 69.90 лв.
  • From draught to a zombie apocalypse, the theories regarding the end of the world are endless (pun intended). Or at least to the end of OUR world, because let’s face it – beyond our anthropocentrism, the world could continue existing after the mass extinction of humans as a species.

Those theories have had a reflection not only on sci-fi literature, but also on scientific studies, common fears about the future, and the evening news. It is a form of paradox that people’s greatest weakness is their negligence to their bonds, required for the overcoming of obstacles, while their most precious strength is their ability to come together with ideas for the salvation of the planet.

    “Barabar” relies on the latter.

The game engages with entertaining and progressive storytelling techniques, by also introducing elements of education and societal responsibility. The players have to use the cards and their imagination to tell a story. The goal is for them to push their agendas and ideas, so that it will be exactly their campaign that will save the world. In the end, however, “Barabar”’s core lesson is about the range of abilities that sticking together brings us.

Even the name of the game was coined with wittiness. The word “barabar” can be found in a variety of languages, with origins in Persian and Hindi. The common vein between cultures is the meaning of the term: being equal, staying together despite differences, walking hand in hand through life. “Barabar” (the word and the game) suggests solidarity and diversity.

A single games can last anything between 30 and 90 minutes. The number of players has to be between 2 and 6, but the most interesting part is that you are not playing in the present moment: it is in 2037, when the world is under the threat of one of the scenarios written on the “Challenge” cards.

Each player is given 5 “Character” cards – cards that represent real-life people that have contributed to either a better, a healthier, or a more equal way of living. The characters belong to one of the five “Clans” (Activists, Environmentalists, Entrepreneurs, Scientists, Artists) and, of course, they possess a combination of ‘superpowers’.

The points from every character’s resource and the stories, that you will create, is what can help you overcome the evil in this 2037 scenario.

Let your fantastical imagination roam. After all, it is the most powerful tool of those that we admire. Everything is possible when we are “Barabar”.

Let’s just all hope that the more we play, the more we will get closer to bettering this little blue planet.
