Graphic art by Yasen Gyuzelev, "Alice Through the Looking-Glass," Chapter III, Train Carriage – FRAMED
Step into Lewis Carroll’s extraordinary Looking-Glass world through the distinctive vision of acclaimed Bulgarian illustrator Iassen Ghiuselev. This framed algraphy depicts a scene from Chapter III of Alice Through the Looking-Glass, where Alice’s train journey becomes part of the book’s wonderfully eccentric logic. Ghiuselev’s meticulous draughtsmanship, remarkable detail and characteristic manipulation of perspective transform a literary illustration into an artwork in its own right. Hand-printed on fine 100% cotton paper and signed by the artist, this limited-edition graphic comes with a certificate and individual serial number, making it an exceptional piece for collectors, admirers of illustration and devoted readers of Lewis Carroll.
The black-and-white prints originate as precise pencil drawings on paper—a process taking anywhere from a few days to several weeks. The image is then transferred—without altering its original size—onto an aluminum plate. Printing is carried out using a manual etching press equipped with one-meter-long, eight-kilogram rollers.
The ink used is Charbonnel, produced by Lefranc Bourgeois (France)—undisputedly the finest manufacturer of professional inks. The paper is 100% cotton, handmade by Hahnemühle (Germany).
This limited edition is signed by the artist and hand-printed using the classic surface printing technique known as algraphy. Elephant Bookstore guarantees the uniqueness of each artwork through a certificate of authenticity and a serial number.
The Elephant team places great importance on framing; the framing for each print is planned individually. We prioritize not only aesthetics—both front and back—but also security, utilizing features such as metal hanging cables (doubled for added safety where necessary) and versatile options for wall mounting or tabletop display. Each piece comes with a suitable frame and/or mat. We spare no expense in this regard. We like to say that our framing ensures peace of mind for your grandchildren: they will never need to reframe the hand-assembled frames you purchased from us—whether for safety reasons or aesthetic ones.
