- Based on the story of the same name by Anatoly Rybakov.Years of civil war. In the small town of Revsk, a boy from Petrograd, Misha, is visiting his grandparents. Nikitsky's gang attacks the city, Misha sees that their guest, Commissioner Polevoy, is hiding a dagger. Misha and his mother travel by train to Petrograd together with Polevoi's squad. The commissar, who goes with a detachment to the front, gives the boy a dagger and tells him about a piece of paper with secret inscriptions hidden in it. It was him that Nikitsky pursued. In 1916, during the explosion of the battleship Empress Maria, Nikitsky killed his relative, Officer Terentyev, in order to take possession of the hideout hiding the treasure. Returning to Petrograd, Misha and his friends put on a propaganda play and organize a pioneer detachment. But the secret of the dagger haunts him. One day Misha meets Nikitsky in the yard.
