  • In 1942, the heroine of the film, Tanya, number 217, was sent to Germany along with the next batch of kidnapped Soviet people. She ends up in the family of the grocer Kraus, where the Soviet mathematician Sergei Ivanovich works as a porter. Helping each other, they dream of escaping in the spring and reaching their homeland. The death of Sergey Ivanovich, killed by the owner's son Max and his friend Kurt, gives Tanya a firm determination to avenge the deceased and fight for his freedom. After killing Max and Kurt in cold blood, Tanya manages to escape during a Soviet air raid.
