Vintage poster "Silent Don" (USSR) - 1957
- "Silent Don" is a three-part Soviet epic film directed by Sergei Gerasimov based on the novel of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. The first two parts of the film were released in October 1957, and the last third part in 1958. The film tells the story of Russia's participation in the First World War, the October Revolution, the Russian Civil War, the fate of ordinary people, the crumbling ideals of the Don Cossacks and the personal tragedy of the main character Grigory Melekhov. The main character is actually described by Gerasimov as "a man without a path, doomed by history".Starring: Pyotr Glebov, Elina Bistritskaya, Zinaida Kirienko, Lyudmila Hityaeva and others.The film was made in 1957/8 and the poster you see is from the original production. The poster is in good condition for its age, with preserved colors and lettering. It has been folded in half but could easily be framed so the folds don't show. The paper is thick and rough.* The original title of the film is "And Quiet Flows the Don".
