  • The Killing of Desiree (originally titled The Magic Skin) is a 1923 American silent drama film directed by George D. Baker, produced and distributed by Goldwyn Pictures. It is based on the novel La Peau de chagrin by Honoré de Balzac, first published in 1831.

    Poet Raphael de Valentine is down on his luck until a friend introduces him to society. He meets Countess Fedora, and after she reads his poems to him, his work becomes an overnight sensation.

    Starring: George Walsh, Bessie Love, Carmen Meyers and others.

    The film was made in 1923 and the poster you see is from the original production. The poster is in good condition for its age, with preserved colors and lettering. It has NOT been folded in half and can easily be framed. The paper is thick and rough.
