Vintage poster "The witch" (France) - 1958

  • The film is based on the story "Olesya", created by the Russian writer Alexander Kuprin in 1898. The story of the charming girl is a favorite of the author himself, and the film and, accordingly, this poster perfectly capture the fairy-tale and slightly sinister mystery of the story.

    She doesn't look like a witch, does she? With those blonde hairs, blue eyes and gentle features, though that's how the witches bewitched the Swedish engineers. Maurice Ronet plays the role of a specific French engineer who falls in love with the young wild woman Aino and tries to integrate her into society. But the child of nature is not meant to live among civilization, and villagers kill her, spurred on by their superstitious beliefs.

    The film was made in 1958 and the poster you see is from the original production. The poster is in good condition for its age, with preserved colors and lettering. It has been folded in half but could easily be framed so the folds don't show. The paper is thick and rough.
