Vintage poster "Bulgarian patriots unite"
- Maybe this is the place to clarify two very important things in this campaign poster.The first is the word "patriots." This is the so-called masculinization in the Bulgarian language. To date, there are no clear and precise rules on how and where it is imposed (especially in professions and titles). Here we can only theorize - we are talking about the period of socialism. There we are all equal not only before the state, but also in our beliefs and among ourselves. That is why words appear that may sound strange today, but then showed the dignity of equality - if we have partisans, we have patriots. Everything else remains a problem of linguistics and language development, which we will not touch on at the moment.The other side of this bill is the Patriotic Front, a political organization controlled by the Bulgarian Communist Party. This is not another political party, it is rather an organizational body that works at the level of the masses and not only contacts them, but also represents them, but also organizes, leads and controls them.On this propaganda poster we see just such unification and control, and in this case the address is to the patriotic women of Bulgaria. The poster has technical notes that indicate its size and instructions for printing. It was printed in the State Enterprise (State Printing House) Chromolithography "Balkan" Sofia in a circulation of 10,000 copies. The style of the image is typical for the late 50s of the last century, in this case the poster is from 1957.
