The anniversary issue of "Health and Strength" is a beautifully preserved magazine that, completely untouched by time, presents completely up-to-date advertisements and articles for clothing, vegetarian food, exercise and even youth squads.
In essence, it is a monthly sports magazine that began publication in 1899 and managed to maintain 12 issues up to the two wars, after which the books became 20 per year. The magazine was published regularly until 1944. The magazine began its printing journey in Kyustendil and Varna, and then it was transferred to Sofia.
The magazine is an organ of the Union of Bulgarian Gymnastics Societies "Yunak", which began its existence on August 15, 1989, established in the hall of the First Men's High School in Sofia , during the convening of a congress of all regional sports societies. The motto that unites them is "Healthy and strong - united for the Fatherland".
The current collective edition is dedicated to the VII Youth Games, an event that is received with great interest in modern times. In addition to various games and competitions, the participants also participate in international competitions and congresses. The donation campaign for these competitions is increasing, the audience exceeds 10,000 people, and various famous personas can be seen in the stands, as can be seen from the title page with the portrait of His Majesty the King, who is the supreme patron of the games. And for these more elite reasons, advertisements for trench coats also find a place in the magazine (only at Veselin Georgiev in Fenix Palace, 21 Dondukov Blvd.); the wonderful vegetarian restaurants "Ceres" (Pirotska Street) and "Vegetarianska" (6 September Street 3, which also has an electric dishwasher); excellent Bulgarian tobacco and cigarettes from the M. Derderyan and Co. Tobacco Factory (58 "Ibar" Street).
In a few words - this is a magazine that will send you back to the 1930s.
