Bulgarian money - Lev - 1974
- The lev - a symbol of pride, a symbol of freedom, a symbol of our people's emancipation. The first Bulgarian lev was minted in 1880, when our new young country began to have its own currency. A little more than a century later (1999), the lev was tied to the European euro through a currency board. Today we are again fighting for our native Lev, rightly or wrongly - only history will tell. The banknote you see is one of the iconic denominations created by the BNB in 1974. The issue was printed in the USSR at the Goznak factory. On the face of the banknote, you will see in an asymmetrical arrangement the composition of: on the left the national coat of arms, in the middle the number "1" and the text "ONE LEFT", on the right a white field with the number "1" in a vignette. And on the back – the monument on Mount Shipka. (The issue is very similar to the 1962 issue, but there are slight differences in the coat of arms, numerals, and the light shade of the vignetting.)The incredible find you see before you is a brand new banknote. Not bent, creased or defective in any way. The colors and relief are preserved to perfection, and against the light you can even see the watermark - a network of stylized hammer and sickle.Today, you cannot buy anything with this banknote, but you can preserve a piece of native history from a time long gone.
