  • The blonde witch that you see on this attractive poster is French actress Marina Vlady, in the role of… the blonde witch, in the 1956 film… The Blonde Witch. Repetition means magic here.

    She doesn’t look like a witch, does she? With this silky hair, the blue eyes, and the gentle facial features… But it is exactly such qualities that witches use on ordinary men, to lure them to their caves. The man in this feature is a Swedish engineer, played by Maurice Ronet, who falls in love with the young nature girl (surprise-surprise) and decides to take her to his “civilized” world, where she is killed by superstitious villagers.

    The film is based on the 1898 novella by Aleksandr Kuprin – “Olesya.” The story was even the writer’s favourite fairytale of his, and the poster, in addition to the film, complement the hauntingly beautiful story.
