L'Europeo Magazine № 93 | Revolutions | October/November 2024
Revolutions come in all shapes and forms: political, scientific, industrial, sexual, technological, and even fashion. In these revolutions participate revolutionaries, who fall into two distinct categories: idealists and professionals. Skillfully led by the nose by the professionals, the idealists genuinely believe in that revolutio — the turning over, the overturning of life for the better. In this sense, revolution can certainly be considered a synonym for love. In both revolutions and love, the idealists end up on the guillotine, while the professionals have already set their sights on their next victim — the one who will die for them on the next barricade.
The theme is vast, thrilling, and terrifying. It reveals absolutely everything about human nature — the creature that creates its own hell while marching toward it with the best of intentions. There is no lesson to be learned, because man is not inclined to draw lessons from anything. But there is knowledge. And that is no small thing.
